Where the Historic
Palace Resonates

Casa
della
Musica

Where musicians live, create and connect. A place dedicated to artist residencies, music education and production, where inspiration and the rhythms of village life come together to spark new creative experiences.

Casa della Musica

A significant part of Palazzo Dovara, the historic residence named after the noble family that ruled Isola Dovarese from the fifteenth century onwards, is now dedicated to musical creativity and production. At the heart of the project is the Music Room, a purpose-designed space for rehearsals, recording sessions, educational activities and intimate concerts.

Created within the atmospheric former hayloft overlooking the palace courtyard, the Music Room was developed with the guidance of architect Giorgio Palù and the Politecnico di Milano, with particular attention to acoustic excellence and the comfort of performers. Palazzo Dovara aspires to become a landmark destination for musicians, ensembles, teachers and emerging talents from Italy and abroad: a place where professional standards, creative focus and quality of life come together within the inspiring setting of a historic residence.

Music and Education

The promotion of musical culture at Palazzo Dovara is entrusted to the Gasparo da Salò Musical Association, a historic institution that has been nurturing and educating new generations of musicians since 1964. Founded by Maestro Agostino Orizio and named after the celebrated luthier Gasparo da Salò, the Association is recognised as a centre of excellence within Italy's musical landscape, drawing on decades of experience in music education, artistic production and the organisation of high-profile concert programmes.

Building on this wealth of expertise, Palazzo Dovara provides an inspiring setting for artist residencies, advanced training courses, masterclasses, workshops and opportunities for musical exchange. It is a place designed to foster study, research and professional development, where learning and artistic practice come together, and where the dialogue between distinguished musicians and emerging talents helps shape a vibrant international musical community.

Artist Residencies

The cultural vision of Palazzo Dovara is completed by a programme of artist residencies designed to offer musicians not only a professional workspace, but also the opportunity to immerse themselves in an authentic experience of living and creating. The apartments, created through the careful restoration of the upper floors of the historic residence, provide comfortable and functional accommodation for artists, teachers and students, where professional activity and everyday life coexist in harmony.

The interiors combine contemporary design with the architectural character of the palace, creating a refined balance between heritage and modernity. The experience is further enriched by the unique setting of Isola Dovarese: the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside, the beauty of its magnificent Renaissance square, the landscapes of Oglio Sud Park, and the cultural heritage of the neighbouring villages together offer artists an ideal environment in which to rediscover focus, inspiration and wellbeing.
